Memorial-Endowment Fund (MEF) The Memorial Endowment Fund, Inc. was established in 1978 to support the Wilbraham Public Library. The intent of the Fund is to generate donations for the following purposes:
Memorial Endowment Fund is a private non-profit organization with 501C3 tax-exempt status, and donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. A board comprised of five directors, President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Clerk and several corporators manages the Fund. All members are Wilbraham residents. Throughout the year families and individuals may make donations in memory of a family members or friends. In addition, donations to the Fund are generated through an annual letter of appeal mailed out to Wilbraham residents. Donations can be made in a variety of forms including cash, securities, tangible personal property, bequests, and others. The advantage of a donation to the Fund is that the initial gift contributes directly toward the principle. Only the annual income generated is actually spent, and because of this, a donation will have many lifetimes of use. All donations are invested, and the income from the investments is spent primarily on books considered of lasting value.
