Teen Space Ideas
Tuesday, April 21st, 2009Using the links Kate put up from Demco, Brodart, and Gaylord; these are what caught my eye.
In past TAB meetings, many teens expressed a need to different chairs for different functions. And some wanted tiled carpeting, whereas others preferred carpet.
For studying or homework use, metro chairs from Demco come with or without arms, have high backs, and come in many colors. (The wood as well as the upholstered or wood seats.) The link to the chairs is: http://www.demco.com/goto?BLK8282&LPCC57
Also from Demco, are stools with a back. These can be used as a comfortable palce to read, or just socializing. They come in a variety of colors. The link is: http://www.demco.com/goto?BLK93847&LPCL95 (I think they look really cool. But they may not be very functional xp)
For a more modern feel, Gaylord has a black cafe chair with a criss-cross back. The available colors are limited; but for someone who doesn’t like chairs with arms, they may be worth it. The link is: http://www.gaylordmart.com/adblock.asp?abid=16442&sid=EADAE9A7E58C444D85E1B0E388BEFF
For carpeting, Brodart has a highrise 3-dimensional carpet that comes in nine different colors, and seems to come up from the floor. The design is rectangular, and stays within our hopes for a modern but timeless look in the teen space. The link is: http://www.shopbrodart.com/shop/cb/product.aspx?pgid=5484
If you prefer a plain/solid colored carpet, Gaylord has one in eight different color. It is stain soil resistant. The link is: http://www.gaylordmart.com/adblock.asp?abid=16447&sid=EADAE9A7E58C444D85E1B0E388BEFF&search_by=desc&search_for=carpet&mpc=WW
As far as lighting goes, Demco has a colorful radar lamp with eight acrylic discs that change colors. It’s a foot and a half tall, and it probably does not expend much light, but it looked cool. So I’m sharing it with you. The Evanston Public Library in Illinois used round lights that hang down form the ceiling. Length and brightness might be an issue, but it was something mentioned in a past meeting. The link is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimbolan/sets/72157611251590632/
Not much else for this blog. Will try to post more tomorrow.
