Research & Homework Help

We have many resources to help you with your homework and research projects. You can use the catalog to search for a book (or DVD, etc.) in our catalog or in other libraries in Western Mass. You can come into the library to use our reference books. And you can use our online databases, which cover a wide range of topics.

What is a database?

A database is a collection of information from reliable sources. Databases are put together by researchers, archivists, and even librarians, so that you can find the best, most accurate, and most up-to-date information available.

Using a database to look up information on your topic may not seem as easy as using Google or Wikipedia, but databases have one big advantage: you know that you can really trust the information you find there (and your teacher will accept it too!).

You can access all of our databases here by entering your library card number and your last name. If you are having difficulty logging in, please call the library's Reference Desk at 596-6141 ext. 3.

Teen Health and Wellness

One of our best databases is focused entirely on the needs of teenagers today: Teen Health and Wellness. (To get to this database, log in to our databases page here and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, where you'll see the Teen Health and Wellness logo.) Here you'll find the answers to all kinds of questions about your physical health, mental health, relationships, sexuality, and much more. Whether you want to know more about yoga exercises, caring for your skin, the warning signs of suicide, how to relieve stress, or how to deal with having a disability, Teen Health and Wellness has the answers you need!
